Amelia Island Beach Family Photoshoot

A Concierge Experience

beach family photoshoot

My husband and I decided once camps were over for the summer, we'd take the kids on a trip before school was back in session. After looking at numerous destinations, we agreed on Amelia Island, Florida. It was our first time braving taking all three kids on an airplane and we survived!

We spent our week-long stay at the kid-friendly Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island Resort and it was lovely. I visited the spa, Kris played a round of golf and the kids spend time in the pool and on the sand until their fingers pruned and their checks glowed.

Near the end of our stay, we took an early evening stroll on the beach to capture family photos with the resort Photography Concierge, Mariah. While she recommended a later start, I knew our crew would not make it to sunset without melting down. So instead, we opted for less than ideal lighting resulting in shadows and squinting eyes. Nathan managed to get food on his white shirt at dinner (tactical error on my part), Grant simply did not want to smile and Elle only wanted me. So it was a short mini-shoot that thankfully produced a handful of pictures capturing our sunny summer 'trip' (remember it's only a 'vacation' if you don't take kids).

I was excited to get the kiddos in pink for the first family photoshoot since welcoming baby Elle. Believe it or not, even after booking the shoot, I did not pack planned outfits. Kris even asked me if there was anything specific I wanted him to wear and was shocked when I responded with indifference. I figured we would all have enough neutrals or blues to bring it all together for the pictures. Going pink was a game-day decision, and as you can imagine, it was highly contested by the boys! Nothing the promise of Oreo milkshakes could not overcome. And yes, that also ended up on Nathan's white shirt!

If you find yourself in Amelia Island and want to take advantage of the Photography Concierge, it is a no-obligation 45-minute shoot that offers packages for purchase. See details below. You have the opportunity to sit down with the photographer the next day and review all edited photos in order to make your selections. She goes through a dialed in elimination process in Adobe Lightroom until you decide on your favorites. For example, she presented 75 images and we narrowed it down to 20. The images were then sent to me for download in an email later that evening. Mariah was great about communicating through text and all formal confirmations came through the hotel concierge email system. I would totally do it again!
