Citrus + Berry Sangria

A glass of rich fall flavors

Once the summer months of enjoying white wine, bubbles and mojitos comes to an end, I am ready to start pouring red wine. This fall sangria has been one of my fall go-to beverages for a few years now.

The presentation is stunning and it highlights some of my favorite fall flavors. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 large red apples - sliced

  • 2 large oranges - 1 squeezed | 1 sliced

  • 6 oz fresh blackberries

  • 8(ish) cloves - whole

  • 2 cinnamon sticks - whole

  • 1/4 cup of brandy

  • 1 bottle of red blend wine

  • Agave to taste

Directions:

  • In a bowl: One squeezed orange, one sliced. Cut red apples, medium thickness (skin on), whole blackberries, cloves, brandy, red wine blend.

  • Let sit in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before enjoying. Leave in the refrigerator for 12 - 24 hours to allow the flavors to blend and the fruit to soak up some of the liquid.

Quick Tips:

  • Want to add a bit of fizz to the mix? Top with soda water or sparking wine at the time of enjoying your drink. But don't add bubbles to the mix before putting in the refrigerator or freezer or it will go flat.

  • If you plan to keep your sangria for a few days, store in a twist top mason jar to keep fresh.

  • If you make a big batch and don't think you will be able to enjoy it all within a few days, strain the fruit and put the liquid only into ice cube trays and freeze for later use. Or just drink it, would ya'!
